If you are suffering from shingles, chickenpox or adults, as the disease is often known, you probably suffer from pain, itching, fever, and other shingles symptoms. That means you're probably looking for everywhere to find a cure shingles. Well, you're in for some bad news: like chicken pox, there is no cure for shingles.

There are, however, several different treatments and medications you can use to reduce disease and help relieve pain, itching and other symptoms. These include antiviral drugs that reduce the duration of the disease, some topical creams to relieve the itching and pain, and some drugs against pain to reduce fever.

Your doctor should prescribe some antiviral drugs once he or she diagnoses you with shingles. From this drug in the first couple of days of seeing shingles reduce your chances of any complications. It is very important to treat shingles as soon as possible because if you do not, the disease can become more serious. The worst it gets, shingles is more resistant to treatment. You must take your antiviral medication in conjunction with over the counter analgesics, corticosteroids, and topical creams. Using all four drugs will greatly help to reduce the shinglessymptoms.

These early forms of treatment should be enough to get rid of the infection. However, if you continue to experience pain for a month or two after the rash is gone, you can have a post-herpetic neuralgia. It can actually cause pain for years, and it affects between ten and fifteen percent of everyone who has shingles. Again, there is no remedy against post-herpetic neuralgia, but there are treatments including antidepressants, topical creams, anticonvulsant and analgesic drugs such as codeine.

If your shingles complications even worse, your doctor may have to perform surgery and can prescribe more powerful antibiotics and antiviral drugs according to shingles symptoms.
